A Year Older

"Time is an ethereal and sometimes cruel goddess. In her relentless passing, she steals away our youth and vitality, often in ways that seem insignificant until we finally realize how much she has taken. Still, she is also a generous deity, who offers to replace what she has seized with a deeper wisdom and a clearer vision of life's enigmas. In this sense, time can be our most powerful ally--if we are patient enough." ---Michael Kelleher

Celebrated my ever growing old each year day this week. As you grow older, birthdays are not so exciting anymore. You live in reality where fairytales no longer exist. You see more wrinkles and white hair. More responsibilities in life, more things to worry about etc. Being an adult is not that fun other than the fact that you earn money to buy your own things.

I still remember my 21st birthday party at MacDonalds. It was a surprise from my church friends. Sadly, that MacDonalds no longer exists. :) It was really embarrassing having to "choo-choo" train round the whole of Macs with the birthday cake while singing "Happy Birthday" but these are the memories that puts a smile on my face. Once you have passed your 21 years, time flies faster than you know it. So enjoy your youth while you can.

21st

This year, I celebrated my birthday with my youths at Sukiya (no photos because I look super unglam) but I had a good time. Craving satisfied! :D And a surprise came at 12 midnight from my dear BF while I was sleeping.

Conversation between Ben and my sis, she was telling my mum and me about it.
Sis, "Are you sure you want to come over? She will look super unglam."
Ben, "Never mind lar, I'll see her like that for the rest of my life." *Heart melts*
Sis, "Ok lor."
Ben, "Wait, it's you unglam or she unglam?" *Mum laughs*

And on Monday, I celebrated with my darling friends, whom I've known for 3 years from the online shopping world. Photos of the cake which had no flame on the candle as we don't smoke, well it's the thought that counts and my present (love it very much, thank you babes!!!). The rest of the photos are with Claire. Where's my photo Claire? LOL...

Headed to JB yesterday with the BF for a day of fun but I was kind of sad. Half of the shopping centre was closed for renovation!!!! *Pffft* And there was no movie to watch. Sigh... So we rotted at Coffee Bean so as to satisfy my hunger crave for Nandos which is so much cheaper than Singapore. I was really, really happy the shoe shop that I like to buy shoes from wasn't under renovation! :) But I was only allowed to buy 2 pairs :(

My very berry handsome BF and the not so pretty me...

I was on leave for the last 3 days. And I was super bored. Hence, I played around with my house hamsters. Photo credits to my dear sister. Meet Pepper and Klutz. I have another 2 more at home but Candy is always sleeping and Mint is too fierce. She doesn't like to be disturbed while she's hanging herself on the cage sleeping. Hahahaha...

I can never turn the clock back but yet ever grateful for how God has led me through my life and for the friends and loved ones that He has brought into my life. As you grow older, you wonder, how much have I accomplished in my life? No longer young, no longer the same as before. But yet by His grace, I am still alive and still changing, growing, learning.

All I can say is, "God, mold me into the person that you want me to be. Teach me to be obedient to Your calling, to walk in ways of righteousness and in Your everlasting love."

Blogging again :)

December is the craziest month for me coz the kids (not my children) are having their holidays and everybody goes on holiday, so there is a lack of staff and volunteers at my workplace. IT'S CRAZY! INSANE!

Well, let's not think about work. It's the weekend! Enjoy right? So, I have been wanting to blog about my baking date I had with my favourite girls. It was quite enjoyable and tiring. Many hilarious photo moments missed. But anyway, most importantly, we had fun together. <3

Task was to bake Strawberry Shortcake for our boyfriends :D Birthdays, anniversary (Michelle & my anniversary falls on the same day #suchacoincidence) and learning how to bake.

My house has a professional baker, my mum. She bakes for CNY! Her goodies, super yummy. We have professional ovens and equipment at home, hence everybody headed to my house. I'm such a failure :( My sister takes after my mum.

Pretty Michelle :)

Pea and her strawberries :D

Hilarious story to the left pic #1:
CL: Pea, you sure there's suppose to be so much sugar.
Pea: Yeah that's what the recipe said!
A few hours later...
CL: There's so much sugar in the strawberry. It's suppose to be soaked in the water right?
Pea: Erm...

Mixing in progress :)
Hilarious story to the above pics #2:
Me: Pea, the dough doesn't taste very nice. Are you sure there's suppose to be so little sugar?
Pea: Yeah, that's what the recipe said.
Me: CL, you try and tell me whether it's sweet or not.
CL: No, it taste salty.
Me: Mich and Pea, taste it.
Pea: Oh yeah hor, why so salty one?
Mich: I think ok leh.
Me: CL, we are more sugar, don't let Pea see.
So we dumped more sugar in.
A few hours later, as Pea's cake was not successful, she did it a second time...
Pea: I think I read the recipe wrongly. The sugar that I put for the strawberries was suppose to be for the cake and the cake one was suppose to be for the strawberries.

LOL :D

Hilarious story #3:

Me: CL, usually when we bake cake, it's suppose to be slightly more doughy right?
CL: Yeah...
So we carried on mixing for about another half and hour.
And when Pea and CL did their cake the second time...
Pea: Stir mixture until it's crumbly.
Me: Ooooppsss... No wonder the cake failed. LOL :D

Mich made me addicted to Fashion Story. And now Pea is hooked too :)

Couldn't help it but to disturb, Pea! :) She wanted to kill me coz more pimples might come out!

Guess who is the first successful cake cutter?

Michelle, who has never baked before!!! :D

This is super funny because the icing kept on melting and my sister who came back, helped us to decorate the cake. LOL :D

We were like, why is the icing melting?
My sister: Eh, did you put gelatin?
Me: Are we suppose to?
My sister: Yeah to harden the icing.
Me: OOOOOHHHHH...
#suaku

And then, Pea had to bake 2 times.. First time, when she tried cutting her cake, the cake broke into half and inside was moist. I suspect we mixed it too much. Second time she baked, instead of cutting into half, while taking the cake out of the tin, the top part came off. It was like those bread bowl kinda thing. She couldn't stop laughing. Anyway, you should see the way we tried to salvage the cake. She just stuffed the strawberries no where near the centre and she said, "I'll just cut this side for my bf where there are strawberries."

So below, tadang! Successful and yet not so successful strawberry shortcakes. My brother said it tasted horrible.

We swore after this never to bake cakes for our boyfriends again. IF we had to do it, we will buy the instant mixes.

Here are some post of Summer my dog, CL decided to do a thesis on Summer. She calls her the "Uber Nua Dog." The only reason why Summer gets up is to lick food of the floor or to take snacks from me.

Lastly to end of my super, super long post, 3 pretty stuff from #lovebonito.

Davenport Dress in Forest Green

This dress is a must get for tulip dress lovers. The only thing I don't like about the dress is the low back. Super mah fan to get bra extenders or nu bra. Material is fantastic and the color is love. Super flattering in my opinion and nice for Christmas :D So tempted to get it in another color. What color should I get? Crimson or Colbat blue?

Oasis Pleated Skirt in Butterscotch and Covet Walsh Top

I'm not a fan of pleats honestly as I think it makes me look fat. Surprisingly, I'm ok with the pleats for this skirt. Material is quite good too. Much more worth the money than the Shoshana skirt. :) As for the Walsh top, I'm getting it in black too, proof of how much I like it. :) Money is not the issue when it comes to clothes. It's more of quality and whether it justifies your buys.

Have a great Sunday everybody :)
