It's 2013!

Time passed really fast this December and it's already 2013! I missed blogging! :) I wanted to blog about so many things but I didn't have the time due to work commitments. So here are some happenings...

Virgin Trip to USS

Thanks to Pea, this was my virgin trip to Universal Studios at half price too! :D I actually expected the place to be bigger but to my surprise it was actually quite small. My poor bf was the only guy there as she had 4 tickets and Claire wasn't around to join us :( The camera in my bag was too heavy anyway.

Please don't go there on a weekend. It's super duper crowded and everyone should buy the express pass especially for those who hate queuing like me. Warning: picture spam ahead.

The ever famous universal studio globe - must take picture with it or that's what everyone does.

We queued for 11/2 hours for the ride below. It was so booooorrrrinnnggg. It's definitely meant for kids.

Check out the queue behind and in front of them.

Just to say, the Transformers ride was really cool. We were so blessed by a family who gave us express passes the second round. Hence, no queue! It was pouring and everyone wanted to go home or sit on the sheltered rides.

Roller Coaster was fun but when I finally had the courage to sit on the one with the legs dangling in the air, it started to rain. I can still hear Michelle screaming in my ears, "Open your eyes, open your eyes!" Adrenaline rush -.-"

I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the Mummy ride but I still remember ever so clearly Pea screaming, "I hate you" and holding on to Michelle. It started to rain around 2pm and it didn't stop. It wasn't very fun after that.

Oh well, I'm glad to have enjoyed myself with these babes and my darling bf :) Too bad I couldn't find anything worth buying for my nephews. And lunch at Chili's was good too. No pics because my computer crashed :(

BondFest 2012

If it wasn't for my wonderful committee, BondFest would not have been a success. BondFest was a carnival by my company to bring the Christmas joy and love to the community. It was also to encourage family bonding among parents and children. All photo credits goes to my sister, Edward and Yan Wei.

My "nai ma"  was the emcee for the day.

Ah gong playing Dance Central. How cool is that?

Thanks to all who helped and made this event a successful one :)

Here's wishing everyone a blessed 2013!

xoxo,
Becky

Money talk

Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has the more one wants.

Benjamin Franklin

That quote is so true.

The last few days, my friends and I have been having conversations about money. Talking about money, house, car is starting to get a little depressing. Honestly, maybe I just won't talk anymore one day. It's not that I'm not happy about life. It's just a sensitive issue. Of course, we all wish that we can have more than enough money to live by, to have the so called "luxurious" things in life or live comfortably. So what exactly is live comfortably? I don't know. Do you know? I think I might end up becoming depressed one day. With the standard of living in Singapore, we are all just aiming to earn more money aren't we?

HerVelvetVase Venice Tea Dress

This is a really charming dress with pretty prints. It's so sweet and dainty. I really adore the vibrant flower prints. I feel so "English" especially with the inner tutu skirt lining. There's a total of 2 linings. One is the tutu-mesh to give the "pom-pom" feel and the other is below the tutu which is polyester. I felt it was a little too warm though. Too many linings. It's defintely perfect for dinner dates or tea time parties. Another sweet dress by HVV :)

Rants About The Future

Sorry for the super short rant that's coming up....

Why do people ask the same questions over and over again like, "When are you going to get married?" I get annoyed everytime I hear this question. It's not like I don't want to get married. Money is the biggest problem at this point of time and my mum has been trying to get me to buy a house. It's just a very big step forward that I'm not very keen to take at this point of time.

Yes, it's true, I envy many of my friends who are married and have kids already but being a mother and a housewife is easier said than done. Honestly, I don't know how prepared I am for the future. I would want my kids to live comfortably in Singapore. We don't have to be super rich and I definitely don't want my kids to be spoilt brats but bringing them up in Singapore is not an easy task. With everything on the rise, I'm 100% sure that I won't be able to provide them as much as I would like with this meager salary of mine. Just thinking about the future brings me tons of anxiety and things to worry about.

I'm definitely not looking forward to the next Chinese New Year when once again, I will bombarded with such questions.

Shall not think anymore! Happy thoughts! When it comes, it'll come right?

Food & Others

I have a boring life so nothing much to update. LOL :) So here are some instagram updates plus food I've eaten over the past few days.

Fei Fei Wanton Mee
62 Joo Chiat Place S427785

If you are a Wanton noodle lover, you have to try Fei Fei Wanton Mee at least once. According a newspaper article, it's been handed down over 3 generations and honestly, I don't see what's they hype about. I still prefer Pontian to Fei Fei anytime. Personally that's because I don't really like bouncy noodles but my bf quite liked the noodles and the wanton.

Oh, the price has increased so much over the years. It's quite expensive for a bowl of noodles.

Song Heng Fishball Noodles
Blk 11 Telok Blangah Crescent S090011

This has to be the best fishball noodles ever. Hahaha :) Lots of treasure at Telok Blangah Crescent market if you didn't know. It has quite a unique taste to it. I think it's because the uncle adds a lot of vinegar. Price wise, it is definitely worth every cent. Thumbs up to cheap and good food. This is a definite must try! If you are going there for lunch, you must be there by 11am if not the queue will be super, super long. One of my youths love this noodles so much that everytime we go there, it's a MUST eat the noodles for him.

Golden Barn Confectionery
Blk 11 Telok Blangah Crescent #01-126 Telok Blangah Crescent Market and Food Centre S090011

This store is owned by a very talented guy. A guy who can bake muffins so well. :) I always buy from him whenever I go there. He opens at 11am and by 3pm every is sold out. Yep, that's how popular his muffins are. There are many flavors to choose from so go and try if you are around the area :D I don't think he opens on weekends though.

Review of TCL Camilly Lace Top

Review of Camilly Lace Top in Cream from TCL

The top is really lovely in real life. However, the shoulders don't fit me that well. Perhaps my shoulders are too broad but I really like the top. The cream is slightly sheer, I could see my bra under my room light. I have this top in teal too but teal as a top is not really my colour. But, I'm really too lazy to sell so I should be keeping it.

As you can tell already, I'm a lace and floral lover. I still have so many things in my plastic bags to try on. My poor wallet. :(

Dilemma

Have you ever felt the moment where you totally feel like giving someone a kick in the butt or a tight slap on the face?

Yep, that's me now. I've been fuming and am still super angry at a certain someone. I was just having a discussion with a friend that maybe we should send the "deadly" notice to him/her. Honestly, it feels super cruel and my heart is aching just thinking about it but we have been too kind.

It's a torture each time such thing happens and him/her not being a help to anything just makes things worst. It happens over and over again. But yet, I can't tell the person straight in the face.

I was just sharing with my church youths about King Saul and David. David had every opportunity to kill Saul when he as in the cave where David was hiding. Yet, David did not and the people that were with him were like, "Yay, kill him. Now's your chance." He didn't but let God deal with Saul. In the end, Saul  killed himself a few chapters later.

But the point being is that David showed Saul mercy and compassion. Jesus showed compassion to those who wanted took him to the cross. I still get upset just thinking about the person and wonder if he/she knows how we feel. There will always be people in this world who are just insensitive and unaware that what they do, is just a pain. For a very long time in my life, I have not called anyone "stupid" or "idiotic" but that was one of the rare moments in my life that I used it. It is definitely not a vulgar word but you know, imagine calling someone stupid. How much damage could be done to a person's self esteem?

I can only ask for God's wisdom to deal with this person. Hopefully, when we talk, things will get better and improve if not that "deathly" notice will come I guess or give him/her the choice to walk out?

Random Ramblings

I think sometimes I may be oversensitive. People tell me that all the time, perhaps it's called the girl's instincts.

If only life was simpler and there wasn't so much to think about. People who are true to you are hard to come by. Treasure every moment that you have with them.

Anyway, it's been a tough week again or a daily struggle. Waking up, dragging myself to work. I am one person who lacks plenty of discipline and face a lot of emotional issues at work. I have a tendency to hide how I feel and cope by just doing what other people tell me to do but according to my bosses, that's not what they want. Sometimes, I don't even know what they want. Do what they want also wrong, don't do what they want also wrong. That's why it's sometimes easier to pen down my thoughts instead of saying it out so I have random ramblings and scolding myself at times on this blog.

My pastor's wife encouraged me to pray the following verses every morning before work and I am deeply encouraged. :) So just thought of sharing, no matter where we are or what we may face in life. God will never fail. He will never leave us nor forsake us.

Lamentations 3: 22-26
22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,    for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
   great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
   to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.

Florals and Me

I love floral stuff and colorful stuff :)

Anyway, I kind of have this love-hate relationship with the TVD blazer. I didn't buy it but was thinking about it and still am thinking about it. Can't decide if it is pretty. Actually $32 is quite worth it.

I saw on a blog, someone wearing the original inspiration which is Zara

And I so love this pair of shorts from The Velvet Dolls.

My friend who owns Project Serenade told me that they are going to launch this pair of shorts sometime soon. So do keep your eyes peeled :)

Anyway, here are some of my latest love...
