Simplicity

I love acoustic songs. The simplicity of the song somehow speaks more than the usual.

In the still moment, there I find my peace. There I find my rest. :)

Forever 21

I celebrated my Forever 21 birthday yesterday. Yes, I have officially reached the stage of ultimate denial that I'm growing older year after year. Heart is aching terribly at how old I'm growing. Age is not just a number to women after a certain stage.

So anyway, no surprises this year for me but at least I got to spend time with my ever loving future husband. This will be our last year celebrating my birthday in my "single but attached" status.  Looking forward to what the future holds for us...

We went to S.E.A. and I think we get our dress sense from fishes. They have so many patterns and colours. Extremely vibrant and beautiful. Btw, I hate fish. They smell terrible but it's ok to stare at them especially those really nice coloured ones.

Breakfast at Good Morning Nanyang Cafe (known for their toast bread)

Beautiful isn't it? God has so much creativity. I need to draw inspiration from Him. Oh, and I watched the little minions yesterday too. Quite a funny show but I definitely preferred the first one and you know, that's what family is all about isn't it? Loving, laughing together, keeping a lookout for each other... Interesting show with a good storyline I must say.

I must be on a blogging roll... hahaha... haven't blogged so much in ages.

Life

Life is fragile. There are so many uncertainties that sometimes, it takes a lot of courage and faith to face what just might come tomorrow.

Today, my dear friend is still facing a situation and there's no security in what the future holds. Today, my mum is heading to the hospital for a checkup for an internal bleeding. Who knows whether it will be a simple or a complicated case? There lies in my heart the fear of losing another that is so close and precious to me.

So what is life is to me? I remember that someone once shared that they did this exercise where the pretended that the person was dead and they had to say something about the person at his grave. What will people say about me? Have I given my best to this life that I'm living for? Have I done what God has told me to do?

I really don't know about tomorrow. I don't know about the future. We can only plan but who knows what will happen next.

Reflection:~ Faith in uncertainties. Courage in times of fear.

Unconditional Love

A friend has been going through a tough time lately. It brings tears and an aching heart just thinking about it. Here I am about to celebrate a lifetime together with Ben in a year and there she is crying her heart out.

What to do? What to say?

I admire how strong she has been and have no understanding why she isn't getting angry. But, as I stand in her shoes, I can sense her love for him and her longing to work things out with him. Sadly, it's not being reciprocated yet. Her unconditional love for him is just something that brings a smile to my face yet there's so much sadness about it.

I sent her this song a while back and am hoping that she carry to have faith in the One who understands and knows her heartache. The One who will give her the strength and courage to face whatever situations that will come.

No matter what happens my dear friend, we love you and will always stand by you.

Happily Engaged! :)

Hello everybody! :)

I'm back to blogging like once a month. Haha. Well, March is a special month for me because I GOT ENGAGED! Woohoo! :) Honestly, I knew it was going to happen coz a week ago, the plans were revealed secretly in bits and pieces by various people.

Revelation #1
One week ago, on a Sunday at Daiso.
Ruth, "Maybe you can use this Ben."
And I walked up...
Me, "Use what for what?"
Clement, "Very dangerous for Becky to be here."

And so I asked Ben and he gave me the "I cannot lie to you for nuts face".

Revelation #2
At Ben's uncle's house for dinner.
Auntie, "Congratulations!!!  Congratulations!!!"
Me, "Huh? Congratulate what?"
Auntie, "Congratulations!!!"
Uncle who came out from the toilet, "How was the proposal ah?"

Me... Erm... ok...

Revelation #3
My dear fiance started to lock his phone, he says it's not but please... I'm sharp ok...

And so I told my good buddies what happened and they messaged Ben and all were in cahoots together. Dear Pea went to tell Ben that I knew and so they were even more cautious. Anyway, we had church that day because it was Good Friday! I was so happy that Michelle could come but not knowing that she was in communication with Ben. And then she kept asking me, "You don't know which date it is meh?" I was just saying that there's a special day to Ben as it was the day he first revealed his feelings to me and so forth. Everyone acted like nothing was happening, I was even in a bad mood that day.

And I saw people blowing balloons and  I didn't even know that the balloons were meant for the surprise. I thought it was meant for the kids to bring home and play with it. And dear Michelle and my dear sister were such good actresses. My sister was dropping hints but I didn't get it. Hahaha...

Anyway, here's are photos and videos of my engagement. I have even tried on some gowns. Yes, everything is moving real fast.

*I can't share the video coz it's too big and can't fit into my blog frame. I can't seem to make it any smaller too... I shall find a way...

It's a new phase in life and here are two pictures of gowns I tried on just a few days ago :D And wedding gowns are really tight. OMG... I need to shed off more fats.

It's 2013!

Time passed really fast this December and it's already 2013! I missed blogging! :) I wanted to blog about so many things but I didn't have the time due to work commitments. So here are some happenings...

Virgin Trip to USS

Thanks to Pea, this was my virgin trip to Universal Studios at half price too! :D I actually expected the place to be bigger but to my surprise it was actually quite small. My poor bf was the only guy there as she had 4 tickets and Claire wasn't around to join us :( The camera in my bag was too heavy anyway.

Please don't go there on a weekend. It's super duper crowded and everyone should buy the express pass especially for those who hate queuing like me. Warning: picture spam ahead.

The ever famous universal studio globe - must take picture with it or that's what everyone does.

We queued for 11/2 hours for the ride below. It was so booooorrrrinnnggg. It's definitely meant for kids.

Check out the queue behind and in front of them.

Just to say, the Transformers ride was really cool. We were so blessed by a family who gave us express passes the second round. Hence, no queue! It was pouring and everyone wanted to go home or sit on the sheltered rides.

Roller Coaster was fun but when I finally had the courage to sit on the one with the legs dangling in the air, it started to rain. I can still hear Michelle screaming in my ears, "Open your eyes, open your eyes!" Adrenaline rush -.-"

I didn't get a chance to take a picture of the Mummy ride but I still remember ever so clearly Pea screaming, "I hate you" and holding on to Michelle. It started to rain around 2pm and it didn't stop. It wasn't very fun after that.

Oh well, I'm glad to have enjoyed myself with these babes and my darling bf :) Too bad I couldn't find anything worth buying for my nephews. And lunch at Chili's was good too. No pics because my computer crashed :(

BondFest 2012

If it wasn't for my wonderful committee, BondFest would not have been a success. BondFest was a carnival by my company to bring the Christmas joy and love to the community. It was also to encourage family bonding among parents and children. All photo credits goes to my sister, Edward and Yan Wei.

My "nai ma"  was the emcee for the day.

Ah gong playing Dance Central. How cool is that?

Thanks to all who helped and made this event a successful one :)

Here's wishing everyone a blessed 2013!

xoxo,
Becky

The Fat Lady Sings + MGG Gemma Pastel Blazer Review

I've a certain admirer who loves to tell me that I'm a fatso. I'm actually quite flattered by the person's willingness to stalk me day and night.

Now, let me tell you, being bigger and fatter does not mean that one is not beautiful and one cannot show off her voluptuous body. No one is the same and no one will ever be the same. Yes, we all have "this is what I wanna be" kind of body but if you can't achieve it so what? Everyone of us are built differently. My friends and my bf always tease me about my "triplets" tummy but that doesn't stop them from loving me. It doesn't stop them from talking to me when they have problems or when I have problems they don't tell me, "Go away! You are too fat!" Yes, fatter people like me need to exercise and cut down on sweet food or carbohydrates but that does not make me feel like a "loser". It does not change the fact that one has to be skinny to be beautiful.

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a Woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows.” - Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn said it so well, that true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. God made each one of us to be different. Even twins are different. Confidence, character and a kind personality makes a person who they are and what they are. If you see some OL who dresses nicely but every word that comes out of their mouth are vulgarities, I don't think that is beauty.

So to every voluptuous lady out there, don't feel rejected or upset because you are not a UK 4-8. Nobody is perfect. You are you and they are they. God made us differently and each of us are so special in His eyes. Your family and your friends love you for who you are inside not because of your physical body. Your inner beauty captivates more than your outer beauty!

Review of MGG Gemma Pastel Blazer in Lilac in M

This blazer is a MUST get for those blazer lovers. Thanks to LH who tempted me! :D The cutting fits me better as compared to the Dotted Frenzy one. The shoulder area is much more well fitted and the arms area are not as tight. I'm so tempted to join BO for Puce Pink and Sky. Hahahaha... I'm waiting to see the Sky colour review first.

The lilac colour is so, so sweet. I was initially tempted by the CWC one but I decided to wait for this. So glad I did. The ruched sleeves are perfect because my arms are usually too fat to fold up the long ones. :( And it doesn't give the overly formal kind of feel. No regrets!

A Year Older

"Time is an ethereal and sometimes cruel goddess. In her relentless passing, she steals away our youth and vitality, often in ways that seem insignificant until we finally realize how much she has taken. Still, she is also a generous deity, who offers to replace what she has seized with a deeper wisdom and a clearer vision of life's enigmas. In this sense, time can be our most powerful ally--if we are patient enough." ---Michael Kelleher

Celebrated my ever growing old each year day this week. As you grow older, birthdays are not so exciting anymore. You live in reality where fairytales no longer exist. You see more wrinkles and white hair. More responsibilities in life, more things to worry about etc. Being an adult is not that fun other than the fact that you earn money to buy your own things.

I still remember my 21st birthday party at MacDonalds. It was a surprise from my church friends. Sadly, that MacDonalds no longer exists. :) It was really embarrassing having to "choo-choo" train round the whole of Macs with the birthday cake while singing "Happy Birthday" but these are the memories that puts a smile on my face. Once you have passed your 21 years, time flies faster than you know it. So enjoy your youth while you can.

21st

This year, I celebrated my birthday with my youths at Sukiya (no photos because I look super unglam) but I had a good time. Craving satisfied! :D And a surprise came at 12 midnight from my dear BF while I was sleeping.

Conversation between Ben and my sis, she was telling my mum and me about it.
Sis, "Are you sure you want to come over? She will look super unglam."
Ben, "Never mind lar, I'll see her like that for the rest of my life." *Heart melts*
Sis, "Ok lor."
Ben, "Wait, it's you unglam or she unglam?" *Mum laughs*

And on Monday, I celebrated with my darling friends, whom I've known for 3 years from the online shopping world. Photos of the cake which had no flame on the candle as we don't smoke, well it's the thought that counts and my present (love it very much, thank you babes!!!). The rest of the photos are with Claire. Where's my photo Claire? LOL...

Headed to JB yesterday with the BF for a day of fun but I was kind of sad. Half of the shopping centre was closed for renovation!!!! *Pffft* And there was no movie to watch. Sigh... So we rotted at Coffee Bean so as to satisfy my hunger crave for Nandos which is so much cheaper than Singapore. I was really, really happy the shoe shop that I like to buy shoes from wasn't under renovation! :) But I was only allowed to buy 2 pairs :(

My very berry handsome BF and the not so pretty me...

I was on leave for the last 3 days. And I was super bored. Hence, I played around with my house hamsters. Photo credits to my dear sister. Meet Pepper and Klutz. I have another 2 more at home but Candy is always sleeping and Mint is too fierce. She doesn't like to be disturbed while she's hanging herself on the cage sleeping. Hahahaha...

I can never turn the clock back but yet ever grateful for how God has led me through my life and for the friends and loved ones that He has brought into my life. As you grow older, you wonder, how much have I accomplished in my life? No longer young, no longer the same as before. But yet by His grace, I am still alive and still changing, growing, learning.

All I can say is, "God, mold me into the person that you want me to be. Teach me to be obedient to Your calling, to walk in ways of righteousness and in Your everlasting love."
