As I was listening to Pastor Benny Ho preach, something convicted me in my heart.
He said, "We should not have a line mentality. A mentality that says how far can I go before falling off the cliff. It should be, I want to pursue righteousness." It really spoke to my heart. We as Christians, often push the limits of sin. We will push and push until we will eventually fall of the cliff. However, if we change our mentality to I want to pursue righteousness, we won't even step into areas which are dangerous.
Many of us compromise in our faith and choose to push the limits especially in relationships. We tend to be blinded by our emotions and overstepping our boundaries.
He said, "Your compromise further convinces him that your God is not that great because you are choosing him above your God. It already communicated the wrong message."
I think it applies to relationships which are unequally yoked. I used to be so wrong in my secondary school days. Indeed, I was blinded by emotions. I always thought I could bring the guy to church but I was wrong. Instead, I became a hindrance to him coming to know Christ as I compromised. I chose him above God. It was already clearly stated in the bible not the be unequally yoked.
Even now so, the words he spoke, applies to my life as well. Choose God above anything else. Choose to pursue righteousness.
